  • Walk and pass with other pedestrians wherever feasible.
  • Stop at the edge momentarily before entering the road.
  • Avoid phone calls or texting while crossing the street; instead, keep looking for vehicles approaching as you cross.
  • Make eye contact with the driver before passing in front of a vehicle. You can even do a friendly wave to get noticed.
  • Always walk on sidewalks. With no sidewalks, always walk facing traffic so that you can see what is coming and make way as required at that moment.
  • Try wearing light or bright colored or reflective clothing, especially after dusk. Use a spotlight or flashlight when walking at night.
